In this guide, we have asked one of our best plumbers to show you how to replace a Bathroom Sink Tap.
Mr.Ilhan is one of the Near Plumber technicians with much experience in this field.
He says:
“Replace a Bathroom Sink Tap may be a simple DIY project at home. Replacing your tap is an excellent method to give your bathroom a facelift on a budget, and it can significantly impact modernising your bathroom without having to reconstruct it entirely.”

Let’s start with simple steps to show you how to install a bathroom sink tap.

Five Main Steps

  • Turn off the water supply.
  • Remove the old tap
  • Fit the connections to your new tap
  • Fit the tap to the basin
  • Connect to the water supply

First Step: Turn Off the Water Supply

In the case of any emergency or any plumbing job that you don’t know how to proceed with, you can turn the water supply off. After that, you can call an emergency plumber. In other cases, if the plumbing issue is simple, then you can do a DIY. In both cases, the main supply is suggested to be turned off.

Mr Ilhan says: “Before you attempt to remove your tap, switch off the water flow to it. The simplest and safest method is to turn off your power at the mains. Some taps have an isolation valve nearby that you may utilise. However, if you’re new to plumbing, we recommend shutting off the water at the mains for safety.”
Before turning off your water supply, let the tap you wish to replace run briefly. This means that once you’ve shut off the water, you know it’s okay to resume work when it stops running.

Second Step: Remove the old Tap

The first step was to unplug your tap from the water supply. To accomplish this, remove the flexible connections from the copper pipes.

Next, loosen the nut holding your tap to the basin. Depending on the size and placement of your basin, the fasteners may be challenging to reach, so be patient! Once you’ve removed these and disconnected the pipes, you should be able to raise and remove the old tap.
Once the tap is removed, the Near Plumber technician recommends cleaning the surrounding area before installing the new tap.

Third Step: Fit the connections to your new tap

Attach the manufacturer-supplied threaded post to the tap to install your new tap. Then, you may attach the new flexible connections to the tap,’- Continues Mr Ilhan.
If you have followed these instructions, I am sure that you have done 50% of the job. Make sure you double-check everything for any mistakes. If you need more clarification about what you have done, then call Near Plumbers. We can offer you a plumber to do the job, but we also offer you free advice and quotes.

4th Step: Fit the tap to the basin

After you’ve installed the connections, you’ll need to fasten the tap to the basin. Remember to examine the fixes you supplied. These will vary by manufacturer, so always refer to the instructions provided.
Once you’ve prepared your fixings, insert the tap thread and flexible connections into the hole in your basin and fasten with the fixings. It’s a good idea to ask someone near you to help keep the tap straight while you tighten the bolts beneath.

Final Step: Connect to the water supply

In those five easy steps recommended by our professional plumber, Mr. Ilhan, I am sure you have done the job as quickly as it looks. In the end, our plumber says:
Once your tap is installed, you’ll need to connect the flexible connections to the copper pipes of your water supply. To control the pressure, ensure a compression fitting is fitted between the two pipes.

When you’re finished, double-check that all connections are correctly tightened.
